New Year, New Month, New School!

Welcome to Kirkland CE Academy who join the Trust on Monday 1st February.

Today Kirkland CE Academy become the ninth school of the Good Shepherd family. Everyone is very excited to welcome this lovely school into the fold. 

Kirkland are the first school to join the Trust and use the opportunity of conversion to rebrand, the school was formerly Lamplugh CE Primary School. The school joins other local schools, Dean CE Primary School and Lorton Primary School.

In considering the rebranding the school community were keen to reflect the school’s history and location. This marks an important milestone in the school’s journey, securing strong leadership and ensuring the school continues to be: 

“a warm, caring and happy place to learn” (OFSTED, May 2019).

Mrs Katie Robinson, Head of School, says, “Children, families, staff and governors are all delighted to be joining the Trust and are excited about the school’s future. The school has some exciting building work planned, including a brand new outdoor area for younger children and the development of a new under-croft classroom.”

Mrs Cleo Cunningham, Executive Headteacher, says, “I feel privileged to be joining the leadership team of this lovely school.  Small, rural schools play such a huge part in the lives of their pupils, families and the whole community and the Good Shepherd Trust is committed to ensuring that Kirkland CE Academy is welcomed into the Trust family and is given every chance to flourish and to provide an excellent education for its pupils for many years to come."

To welcome Kirkland into the Trust family of schools there will be a celebration event later today (Monday 1st February).  Due to the current restrictions, this event will be virtual, however the school will hold a celebratory open day for the local community as soon as possible.
